The term “expert opinion” already includes every statement made by an expert in the exercise of his profession on the subject. Whether this statement is made verbally or in written form is irrelevant. It is also irrelevant whether this report is declared as an opinion, comment or report. Since an appraisal must always be written in a non-judgmental and neutral manner, it doesn't matter who commissioned it. A distinction is made between court reports, private reports and arbitration reports.

 

For a court report, the expert is commissioned directly by the court on a topic in his or her area of expertise.

 

The private report generally includes all reports that are not commissioned by a court. Clients can be insurance companies, specialist companies or private individuals.

 

Private reports also include arbitration reports. Here the parties to the legal dispute are the clients.
